Nightlight
A private baby monitor for two of your Apple devices — no cloud, no account, nothing recorded.
Set up in three steps
1
Place the camera
On a spare iPhone or iPad, open Nightlight and choose Camera. Give it a clear view of the crib and keep it plugged into power.
2
Pair your monitor
On the device you keep with you, choose Monitor, tap Add a camera, and scan the QR code shown on the camera device — or type the 8‑character code beneath it.
3
Watch and listen
You'll see and hear your baby live. Lock your phone and the audio keeps playing. If the connection ever drops, a loud alarm lets you know right away.
Frequently asked
My monitor can't find the camera
Make sure both devices are on the same Wi‑Fi network — not one on Wi‑Fi and the other on cellular, and not on separate guest networks. Some routers isolate devices from one another (look for “AP isolation” or “client isolation” in your router settings) and will block the connection; turn that off. If discovery still doesn't happen, tap Enter code and type the 8‑character code shown beneath the QR code.
Does Nightlight need an internet connection?
No. Nightlight works entirely over your local Wi‑Fi and never touches the internet — a Wi‑Fi network with no internet at all works perfectly. By design it does not work over cellular or between two different networks. That limitation is exactly what keeps your nursery private: the video never leaves your home.
The audio stopped when I locked the monitor
Audio is meant to keep playing while the monitor is locked or in your pocket. Check that the device volume is up and it stayed connected to Wi‑Fi. If the network dropped, you'll hear the connection‑loss alarm; audio resumes on its own the moment it reconnects. Nightlight ignores the ring/silent switch on purpose so you never miss your baby.
It's asking for camera or microphone access
The camera device needs camera and microphone access to stream your baby's video and sound; the monitor device needs the camera only to scan the pairing code. If you declined a prompt, you can enable access anytime in Settings › Nightlight, or tap Open Settings from the message inside the app.
The connection‑loss alarm won't stop
It's meant to be hard to miss — that's the point of a monitor. Tap Silence alarm in the app to stop it, or it stops by itself the instant the camera reconnects. It only ever sounds while a monitoring session is active.
How many monitors can watch one camera?
Up to two monitors can connect to the same camera at the same time — for example, one for each parent.
Is my baby's video private?
Yes. Video and audio travel only between your two devices, encrypted, over your home network. Nothing is recorded and nothing is ever sent to a server or the cloud. There's no account and we collect no data. Read the full Privacy Policy.
The camera device's battery drains quickly
Streaming live video is power‑hungry, so keep the camera device plugged in — it's built to run all night on power. Tip: turn on Guided Access (Settings › Accessibility) on the camera device so a curious toddler — or a stray tap — can't leave the app.
Still need a hand?
